Home The story behind the system

This isn't about
surviving MS.

MS forces a choice. It has forced me to be more present, to pay better attention to the details, and to figure out what actually works for my health. This isn't about surviving MS, this is about what you want to build when you realize the diagnosis isn't the ending.

The day everything changed.

"Test results indicate MS."

— The moment everything shifted

I only remember snips of that day; the warmth of the parking lot, a Cherry Blossom in the crack of the concrete, having to call Megan — my soon-to-be wife — knowing that it wasn't just my life that was changing. That first day is a tough one.

Of course the doctor will tell you don't waste your time online looking up MS. What they don't know is you already have and it scares the shit out of you. You don't want this burden, it isn't fair. And although it will take time, you are reminded that life isn't fair and it's all about how you react — which is the only thing you can control.

"You are healthy and getting healthier."

— Megan, soon after the diagnosis. The motto for my life with MS.

The journey toward understanding how to heal was kicked off and I am happy to say after a lot of work, all of my symptoms are gone and my body is healing. This can also be the story you write for yourself, and although none of us know the future, I for one want to do everything I can to stay healthy throughout the rest of my life. How I built the framework.

I of course lost all hope the first few weeks until I decided I wanted to focus on health and have a part in writing my own story. I started playing with my diet and exercise and then found The Wahls Protocol by Dr. Terry Wahls — game changer. Yes, go read it!

It all started with diet. I changed everything — no more gluten, sugar, and dairy, and more healthy protein, a lot more healthy fat, along with cruciferous vegetables and leafy greens. The body began to get in line and I felt better than I ever had and my first attack symptoms began to dissipate.

I then focused my attention on movement. I love cycling and at this time I was in Portland, Oregon and my wife and I rode 20+ miles most days. That movement led to better physical and mental results and then I tried things like swimming — which is VERY good for people with MS — and although I absolutely love the water and being in and around it, I didn't love swimming as a way to move, so I dropped it for other pursuits.

Life now is about bringing all aspects of nutrition, exercise, community, medical, and peptides together to work cohesively to make sure I stay healthy and get healthier.

The three pillars

Now explore the system.

The story is the why. The pillars are the how. Each one goes deep on exactly what I do, why I do it, and what you can take from it.
